Crocs (TM) made more comfortable - Knitted liners

Do you agree with this cat?

Crocs even the cat knows
(From icanhascheezburger.com )

If that is the case, this pattern is probably not for you :)

On one of my knitting groups, there was a request for knitted plastic clog liners. The requestor found this lovely lady's crochet liners:

http://cobblerscabin.wordpress.com/the-pattern-shop/pattern-shop-ii/croc%E2%84%A2-socks-pattern/

I asked her for permission to make knitted liners, she graciously said yes and told me she would link to my knitted version. She is simply wonderful, so if you crochet, check out her patterns.

My first version was for a toddler size 5:
Pink Toddler size 5 krock socks front and side

I experimented with cuff treatments on this toddler size 8/9:
Clog liners toddler size 8 9 sugar n cream front
Clog liners toddler size 8 9 sugar n cream three quarters
Clog liners toddler size 8 9 sugar n cream back

I wanted the sole to lie as flat, then build up the sides, create a shaped over the arch top of the foot to conform to the opening of the plastic clogs and finally, have a cuff that would stay in place. The cuff also had to be longer in the front than in the back.

These worked well. The heavier weight of the Lily Sugar N Cream yarn helped to hold the liner in place. I then made an adult version in double stranded Hobby Lobby "I love this cotton":
Clog liners adult size 8 pink lliner, yellow clog standing on toes view
Clog liners adult size 8 pink lliner, yellow clog side view
Clog liners adult size 8 pink lliner, yellow clog back view

I found that if you want a thick liner, you need to go up one or two sizes for the clog. These clogs fit my size 8.5 wide foot and DD's size 10 narrow foot.

I am working on an ebook with sizes from baby to adult, different yarn weight and lots of cuff treatments. For now, the adult size version (size 8 to 10) is available for $1 at ravelry.com:

There is also a free version for Mamouth Crocs in Womens size 8:

Take care and keep your yarn dry.
